CLE Overview
The MIDC Act requires defense counsel accepting cases for indigent defendants to complete continuing legal education courses that are relevant to indigent defense work.
Each calendar year, January 1 – December 31, all attorneys receiving appointed cases for indigent defendants through the Regional Managed Assigned Counsel Office must attend continuing legal education for no less than 12 full hours at the attorney’s expense.
The training must be relevant to indigent defense work. The three knowledge components mapped out by MIDC are law, scientific evidence and applicable defenses, and technology.

Attorneys may attend optional training not included in MIDC’s list but should contact the Administrator at the Regional Managed Assigned Counsel Office to make sure the training satisfies the requirements.
All roster attorneys accepting work through the Regional MAC Office must activate a CE Broker account (MIDC’s continuing legal education database provider) to upload all completed CLE credits.
All credits received through the Wayne County Defender Training program and the Oakland County training program will be uploaded by that provider. No action is required on your part.
If you do not have a CE Broker account, please create one so that you can check your credits and/or enter your CLE certificates. You can access CE Broker at https://launchpad.cebroker.com/”
